PROVIDING VITAL INFRASTRUCTURE FOR WORLD CLASS MANUFACTURING AND RESEARCH

Significant infrastructure work has now been completed by Henry Boot Construction for the University of Sheffield at its Sheffield Business Park site, the location of a number of University research facilities, as well as the newly opened Boeing factory.

The scheme created a dedicated route onto the campus direct from Europa Link by constructing a new Section 278 (S278) highway junction. Sections of Europa Link were also altered by widening the road, extending footpaths, and creating a bridleway. Adjusting the roundabout accommodated an additional lane, and Toucan and Pegasus traffic signals were installed at the junction of the new access road.

The new road was ready in time for Boeing’s opening ceremony in October. Extensive hard landscaping has been provided throughout, linking the areas between individual development plots and complementing the overall site.

The new access road links to the extensive infrastructure were previously completed in August 2017. This included 650m of industrial estate roads built to adoptable Section 38 (S38) standards. Work consisted of tarmac roads, footpaths, service corridors, street lighting, highway drainage and mains services.
